10th European Seminar in Virology (EuSeV)

“Novel Concepts in Antiviral Vaccines and Immunotherapy”

Bertinoro, Italy, October 20-22, 2023.

Antiviral vaccines represent the most successful intervention to prevent viral diseases. The SARS-CoV-2 pandemic served as a major driver for the development and practical application of new vaccine platforms like mRNA vaccination and vector-based gene delivery. In addition, the technological synergy of human monoclonal antibody isolation, structural biology and high throughput sequencing is providing new opportunities for atomic-level immunogen design and the development of pathogen-tailored immunotherapeutics. The focus of this EuSeV will be to promote the emergence of concepts and ideas of how these novel insights could be used to improve the development of antiviral vaccines and immunotherapy. The exciting program, with eminent state-of-the art speakers, will cover a range of viruses including SARS-CoV-2, HIV, HBV, CMV, and influenza viruses. We will also address specific challenges in vaccinology including the immune response in the elderly and mucosal immunity.

Confirmed keynote speakers:
Sergio Abrignani (Italy)
Eberhardt Hildt (Germany)
Matteo Iannacone (Italy)
Masaru Kanekiyo (USA)
Johannes Langedijk (The Netherlands)
Michelle Linterman (UK)

9th European Seminar in Virology (EuSeV)

“Next Gen Virology – New Frontiers and Methodologies in Research and Diagnostics”

Bertinoro, Italy, October 21-23, 2022.

Over the past decade, there has been an explosion of high-throughput technologies (e.g. transcriptomics, metabolomics, proteomics, single-cell multi-omics, CyTOF) that have revolutionized virological research. The focus of this EuSeV will be to promote the emergence of concepts and ideas how these novel technologies could be used to facilitate diagnostic approaches and to foster our understanding of virus-host interactions. The exciting program, with eminent state-of-the art speakers, will cover a broad range of viruses including SARS-CoV-2, various herpesviruses, polyomaviruses, influenzaviruses and dengue virus. Moreover, there will be a focus on systems approaches to understand immune defense mechanisms against viral infections.

8th European Seminar in Virology (EuSeV)

Innate and adaptive immunity to SARS-CoV2 and other viruses.

University of Bologna Residential Center
Bertinoro, Italy, October 15-17, 2021.

The 8th European Seminar in Virology (EuSeV) will focus on Innate and Adaptive Immunity to SARS-CoV2 and other viruses and will take place as a Live Meeting at the University of Bologna Residential Center in Bertinoro, Italy, October 15-17, 2021.

The exciting program, with eminent state-of-the art speakers, will have an emphasis on SARS-CoV-2, however, other viral infections will also be covered. The topics will include: intrinsic restriction factors to HIV and herpesviruses, including CMV; cGAS, STING and SAMHD1 resistance hubs; NK cells; trained innate immunity; mucosal immunity; neutralizing antibody responses to SARS-CoV-2 variants and other viral agents, antiviral vaccine vectors and vaccine development against SARS-CoV-2.
